The North East has significant concentrations of worklessness where people living in these neighbourhoods have little contact with the world of work. This increases the negative effect on their expectations and job prospects.

Esh Group has developed ‘Fit for Employment Again’ using the experience and knowledge obtained from running the Fit for Employment schools programme. This scheme aims to develop people who, for a number of reasons, have become difficult to employ and have no recognised training or experience.
The aim is to give opportunities to those who have, perhaps, become long term unemployed, ex-services, single parent, ex-offenders, etc. The Esh Group work with Norcare, who are providing the majority of the candidates, Jobcentre Plus, who provide the remaining candidates, the North East Employer Coalition (part of the National Employers Panel), and the ‘Building Tyne and Wear’ initiative.
