Constructing Excellence in People – Esh Group’s Fit for Employment Programme, in conjunction with Deerness Valley Comprehensive School, has revolutionised the way in which forward thinking construction companies can recruit apprentices and educate young people for the exciting employment prospects within our dynamic sector.  As with many of the greatest innovations it succeeds in a great number of very varied arenas:

• Spreads the word as to the real job prospects within construction
• Transcends the gender divide by recruiting with genuine equality
• Improves GSCE success rates through improved motivation amongst young people
• Invigorates existing employees within the business

The list goes on and on……...There is no doubt, Fit for Employment is unique.

Conceived and developed in Durham the project is transforming the lives of some of the regions young people.  At the same time it delivers the needs and aspirations of both education and industry.

This imaginative programme was devised by the Esh Group to improve the recruitment and retention of young people in the construction industry.  It was developed in conjunction with Deerness Valley Comprehensive School, which has worked tirelessly to improve the prospects and achievements of its pupils.

Training and industry awareness programmes come and go but few go that vital next step.  The offer of full time employment backed by an apprenticeship and a career promise, provides that special ingredient – a light at the end of the tunnel.
