Co Durham construction group appoints HR Manager

As part of ongoing growth plans, County Durham based construction company, Esh Group, has appointed Toyin Adefioye as Human Resources Manager.  With a turnover in excess of £50m Esh Group is a major employer in County Durham with a current workforce of over 520 people.

The Group includes a number of well-known regional firms including Lumsden & Carroll, Dunelm Castle Homes, Sones Landscaping, Deerness Fencing, North East Construction Training, Bartram Walker and Dunelm Property Services.

Educated both in London and the North East, Toyin, 36, was previously Human Resources Manager at Sevcon Limited and her earlier career was in the electronics and retail sectors.

Toyin's appointment is part of ongoing expansion plans at Esh Group which include construction of the new purpose built £2m headquarters at Bowburn, Co Durham now nearing completion.  The nine-acre site includes a brand new 2,000-m2 office block together with storage, service and fabrication areas.

Commenting on Toyin’s appointment, Chief Executive, Brian Manning said;

‘We are delighted that Toyin has joined our team; she is a highly competent professional.  This year is critical in our development as we move the Group companies to Bowburn.  We have expanded significantly over the last three years and are projecting similar growth going forward; Toyin’s appointment is a very important part of those plans.

'Furthermore we are currently seeking to make a number of other new appointments within the Group, ranging from Contracts Managers and other supervisory rôles to the trades.  Our healthy growth requires ongoing recruitment throughout the business and we expect an increase of around 10% in our workforce this year, rising closer to 600 people by the year end.'
